Minutes
The meeting of the Middletown Wrestling Association (MWA) was called to order on Monday, February 13, 2006, at 7:05 p.m. by Gregg Hughes.
In attendance at meeting were: Gregg Hughes, Lisa Demko, Lisa Kochinsky, Pam Reitzi. Dave Kochinsky, Chris Kochinsky and Cody Kochinsky.
Minutes – January 9, 2006, minutes were approved.
Treasurer’s Report – Lisa Kochinsky reviewed the February 2006 Treasurer’s Report which includes deposits from both tournaments. The present checkbook balance is $17,750.30; singlet fund - $70.73; 6-month CD - $3,088.72; and 6-month CD - $3,088.72.
Profit from the January elementary/junior high tournament - $3,917.90; profit from the February elementary novice tournament - $8,270.31.
It was suggested that another CD be invested in the amount of $10,000. The balance in the checkbook would cover remaining expenses for the remainder of this season.
No responses have been received from either the Frey Trust or Blue and Gold to MWA’s letter requesting a contribution toward the cost of exercise bikes. Kochinsky will follow-up with organizations.
Coach’s Report – Coach Nauman – No report.
Committee Updates -
A. Program (Jen Miller) – Thanks to Barb Simmons for the terrific insert prepared for Senior Night.
B. Concession (Cathy Meise) – Thanks to the Meise’s for a great job with the concession stand. Thanks to Michelle Witman for making arrangements for us to use the kitchen and helping prepare food. A letter of thanks will be sent to the manager of food services.
A $100 ($50 per tournament) check will be sent to the Key Club as a thanks for providing volunteers. Another check will be sent after the May tournament.

F. Fundraising
Lottery Tickets (Kochinsky/Barb Simmons) – A few more tickets have been sold.
Basket
Bingo (Miller) – scheduled for April 30.
MWA will purchase the baskets that were to be used by the football
booster club bingo which was cancelled.
Need to make sure that advertising is being taken care of and that
sponsor letters are being sent. Since
Michelle Witman had expressed an interest in contacting contractors, talk to
Michelle to see if she is interested.
Junior High Dance (Kathy Murray)- St. Patrick’s Day Dance - March 17 - to be held at MSCO gym building, DJ scheduled and police contacted. Will provide snacks (chips/pretzels/sodas). Need to advertise and get chaperones.
Raffle
Tickets –
G. Banquet (Miller/McClure) – Need to set date; reminder that $250 is budgeted for banquet and $1,000 for trophies.
H. Senior Night/Recognition (Miller) – held.
I. Volunteers (Demko) – Poor response for volunteers, parents needs to step up.
J. Awards (Miller) - $1,000 budgeted for trophies (as mentioned in previous minutes - the amount budgeted is an estimate and quotes need to be obtained and approval by the board is needed.
K. Elementary Quad Meet (Bill Simmons) - Not being held.
L. Junior/Senior High Parent Night and Pictures (Kochinsky)
M. Publicity/Press & Journal (Miller) – Great job Jen!
N. Button Committee () – Issue for next year - MWA consider purchasing a button making machine in next year’s budget or borrow the football boosters and purchase the supplies.

Team Recognition - jackets are being purchased for the varsity team for conference tri-champs. For clarification, if we choose to do something in the future for junior high recongition it would be a t-shirt.
Scholarship - need to follow-up.

Budget - It was reminded that money budgeted still needs quotes obtained and needs the approval of the Board. Since we are following up with the letters to the two organizations and since it is the end of the season, the purchase of the exercise bikes will be put on hold.
Volunteer Recongition - Brights were recognized at the last match.
New Business
Election of Officers - May meeting - need to solicit nominees for officers; Lisa K. is the only nominee for Treasurer at this point.
Trainers - approved paying the trainers who helped at tournaments $75.
After Prom Lock Down Party - MWA was asked to consider a contribution to the After Prom Lock Down Party; approved $100 contribution.
Next Meeting - The next monthly meeting will be held on Monday, March 13, at
7:00 p.m. at the cafeteria of the high school.
